The Rock

"It appeared out of nowhere. An asteroid the size of a small moon, only this was no ordinary asteroid. It was powered with the biggest engines I've ever seen. The engines were 3 times the size of our ship!
It was headed towards the Eye of Terror...
Let us hope, that whoever they are, that they fight for the Emperor."

Sector Report,
-Imperial Navy Captain First Class Renfield

The Rock is what remains of the Dark Angels home world Caliban, the planet ripped apart during the ferocious battle of Lion el Jonson and his former ally and friend Luther. Stories are told throughout the known universe of a giant rock that brings death and retribution to all those that defy the Emperor. The myths grow as time passes, but the reality is even more amazing then the legends that are passed on from generation to generation.

Protected by its shielding, all the remained after that mighty battle was the Tower of Angels. The Fortress monastery of the Unforgiven.

The Fortress was repaired and this piece of planet was turned into the mightiest of starships. Defenses were added and a network of tunnels were carved throughout the interior. So many in fact that it would be easy to lose ones way in the hundred's of miles of connecting passage ways. Only a handful of Dark Angels can navigate them successfully and even fewer know of the secrets that lie at the very heart of the Rock. The Watchers in the Dark, who have always been and always will be, act as guides to the Dark Angels. Leading them where they need to go and never allowing them to get lost in the Rock's depths.

Giant Warp Engines were fitted into the Rock. No one remembers exactly how they were built or who built them. They allow the Rock to travel through the perilous warp and have worked faithfully for thousands of years. Guided by a member of the Navigator House Simki, the Rock has always reached its destination safely. The Simki family has been bonded to the Dark Angels for many generations. Their Matriarch was once saved from assassination by a lone Dark Angel Librarian and for that they offer their services gratefully. The families devotion to the Dark Angels is unwavering and the Dark Angels move where they want without fear of the warp.

All Dark Angels revere the Rock for its signifigance to the chapter. It is a constant reminder to them of their past, of the mission they must complete, and of why they are the Unforgiven.
